Explorations - The Packing Guide

With Explorations just around the corner, it's time to get packing. It can be quite a daunting task, so we thought we'd share our tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your trip!

Packing Your Case

Unless you've paid for extra hold luggage, you're probably going to be packing as light as possible.

Remember that you can wash your clothes while you're there, and they should dry quickly in the sun, so you don't necessarily need an outfit for every single day.

If you need something to protect you from the rain, a rain poncho will do the job. It may be hot underneath, but it will keep you dry during any passing showers. Just remember to reuse it, and don't throw it away or leave it on the beach, as the plastic is incredibly bad for the environment. We want to leave Dhermi just as we found it!

There are many different ways of packing your case to make the most of the space.
Check out this video to give you some tips.
Try not to bring valuables with you. If you really have to, keep them locked away safely in the hotel and only get them out when you need them. There's nothing worse that loosing your valuables, especially if they aren't insured!

AND DON'T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT!

Toiletries

If you only have cabin baggage, you can't bring liquids over 100ml.
They also need to be in a clear resealable bag of 20cm x 20cm. You can find out more here.
In all cases, we'd suggest to try to buy your miniature toiletries in the shops before you get to the airport in bottles of less than 100ml. This is usually the cheapest way to do it, although it will count towards your cabin bag weight.

You can buy most toiletries after you have been through security (often in larger bottles) but these may cost more than what you would usually pay outside of the airport, so bear that in mind. This way is more expensive, but it doesn't count towards the weight of your cabin bags.

Footwear

Try to pack light shoes or sandals (Nobody wants to be wearing heavy boots or trainers in that heat, and you'd be surprised how much they would add to the weight of your case!)

We've found a particular type of shoe that seems perfect for the festival. Water shoes are made from soft material with a rubber sole. They're great for yoga, beach walking, watersports and other activities, and come in many styles and sizes. You can wear them on the beach and then walk straight into the water for a dip! Check them out on Amazon and Ebay (And just remember to check the delivery date so they arrive in time!)

 Stay safe

Wear sun cream! Whether you bring it with you (remembering the 100ml limit for cabin baggage) or buy it when you arrive, wear sun cream at all times when you're in the sun! Get a waterproof or water repellent version if you plan to swim in the sea or a pool (as the water often reflects the rays, making it even easier to burn!)

Bring a cap to keep the sun off your face and stop you burning.

Sunglasses will help protect your eyes from the sun and making watching the festival more fun! (No one likes squinting all day!)

Drink plenty of water if you're out in the sun all day. If you have a bag or backpack, keep a bottle of water in there in case you overheat. And remember, you can't drink the tap water in Albania, so only drink sealed bottled water.

Not a late night party goer?
Not a night bird? Too tired to party on?
Pack some ear plugs and a blindfold if your hotel is near to the festival site. That way you can still get to sleep while the rest party on. Easy!

First Aid
Although first aid will be available, it's best to carry a small first aid kit when you go away. Paracetamol, plasters and upset stomach tablets are a godsend when you feel ill or need to treat a minor injury.

Our AnjunafamilyUK app will be updated soon to the Explorations update with timetables of each stage, as well as the offline map of the festival and other useful bits.
Keep 'em peeled!

☀️Happy packing people, and we'll see you soon in sunny Albania! ☀️
